چکیده :
In this study, an analysis is conducted on the optimal placement of fault current limiters (FCLs) in an active distribution network that incorporates distributed generators (DGs). The purpose of using FCLs is to alleviate the adverse effects of DGs on the overcurrent protection system of the active distribution network. These effects encompass heightened electromagnetic stresses, costly replacement of protective devices, and miscoordination of protection devices. To achieve the maximum mitigation effect of FCLs while minimizing their overall cost, a proposed multi-objective optimization scheme is implemented. This scheme determines the ideal locations for FCL and their corresponding optimal impedance values. Additionally, a significant emphasis is placed on maintaining the coordinated operation of the protective directional overcurrent relays (DOCRs) within the distribution network. To address this concern, the preservation of DOCRs coordination is integrated into the FCLs allocation problem. Moreover, a novel hybrid approach is devised to reduce the cost of FCLs. This approach involves the initial adjustment of a small percentage of the DOCRs at minimal expense, followed by the resolution of the FCL allocation problem.
